We are based on the north side of Tamworth, near Birmingham, UK. Every Sunday hundreds meet together and throughout the week we meet in smaller groups in houses scattered across the town. Our building and grounds are used by the wider community for a range of services, especially childcare.
We are an independent Christian church.
David Shearer and his wife Bobbie started the church with a Sunday school in their home in 1967. This developed into family services, which took place in the local school. The work grew steadily with many stories of miracles along the way.
Over time the church has grown to need full–time workers, legal status, land and planning permission. Pastor David leads the church with an Assistant Pastor and team of Elders.
Guy joined the team in September 2014 as the Assistant Pastor. Guy and his wife have a son. Guy has an experienced Accountancy background and has previously Pastored a New Frontiers church in Bedfordshire. He’s passionate about people living transformed lives for the Glory of God and the change that brings to them and others. He loves the Word of God and emphasises his teaching and walk on the work of the Holy Spirit on individuals hearts and minds.
Guy regularly speaks on Sundays, supports the Housegroup leaders and runs courses designed to help people discover the basics of the Christian faith.
Mike and Emma Coleman run the youth events with a team of five other leaders. Both are involved in teaching in Tamworth schools and have a heart to build relationships with young people.
Peter Hackett co-ordinates the large group worship, audio and visual teams made up of volunteers from the church who take part in meetings on Sundays. Peter is one of the five Elders at the Church.
Pete works in the construction industry and attends the church with his wife, daughter and two sons.
Alan Cameron is a qualified accountant with 30 years experience in the public and charity sector. He’s accountable to the Trustees for management of the church finances. His role also involves human resourcing for the 10 staff and that look after our building, run the pre-school, and carry out administration tasks including communications management and centre lettings.
Alan is an Elder in the church and also runs a Housegroup with his wife Thelma. They both enjoy getting away for holidays in the Campervan.
On Sunday 19th June, after the Family Service, we will be having a BBQ together! We will be having games and a Bouncy Castle as well as good food. Linked to the Family Service, this is an ideal opportunity to invite family and friends along. Tickets can be obtained from enquiries at the Coton Centre.
Our Toddler Group is a great atmosphere for little ones to come and go on the soft play, interact with other kids and have some toast. We’re back every Monday and Thursday in term time between 10am and 12pm (term time)!
